The protests in China won't go anywhere and the west is to blame

By Dan Kunovich

If there is one thing that power does not like, it is a change in power.

Power as measured by wealth. Measured by influence. Measured by control.

Change is not impossible but what keeps change at bay is the the chain of dependencies whose structure is very similar to a pyramid. Like all multi level marketing schemes, power flows down the dependencies and the more dependencies you have the stronger the pyramid is.

The global economy depends on the dictatorial oppression of the Chinese people

The west is willing to go to war against all manner of nations in the name of some moral cause, underpinned by the inevitable financial goal, because the dependency pyramid of the west does not include those countries. So destabilizing countries in central and south America or even rattling sabers with Russia is no big deal because the power pyramid of the west has little to lose and lots to gain.

The same is not true with China.

The power structure of the west is deeply integrated with the power structure of China. They are just part of the same pyramid. China is number one trading partner with the United States. The amount of cross dependence is staggering. But not just the US. The entire world needs China.

This is not a coincidence.

China has put itself in a strategically critical position in all power structures. And as a result the global economy depends on the dictatorial oppression of the Chinese people.

It requires that when people are barricaded inside their buildings and burned alive that we only send thoughts and prayers.

It requires that when the people in China protest for freedom in the face of a very real and known threat that we look away and hope for the best.

We let this happen.

And what will it take to change it? A change in power. Decouple China from the pyramid. Bit by bit. Brick by brick. Something that will be very very hard if not impossible to do.
